Dr. Arango graduated from the University of Costa Rica in 1979 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS). In 1985, he began an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Puerto Rico, finalizing his specialty at the University of Chile in 1992.

In 1988, Dr. Arango completed a one-month Fellowship in dental implantology, distraction osteogenesis, and TMJ arthroscopy with Dr. Jeffrey Moses, DDS, at the Pacific Research Foundation for Jaw and Facial Surgery in San Diego, California.

In 2008, Dr. Arango visited the College of Dentistry at Texas A&M in Dallas, Texas, in order to enhance his knowledge in Orthognathic Surgery and surgery for obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Arango strives to stay current on the latest dentistry treatments. Since 1992, he has worked as a professor for hospital surgery at the University of Costa Rica School of Dentistry. He also worked as a professor at the College of Medicine at UCIMED (University of Medical Sciences) in Costa Rica and at Javeriana University in Colombia but has since retired.

Moreover, Dr. Arango is an active member of the Oral & Maxillofacial Academy of Costa Rica, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Latin American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Association of Colombia.
